ELP02
Assignment for October 24, 2002

NOTE:  Starting September 26, we began a four-week series of discussions led by two seminar participants each week and focusing on material and issues related to your research papers.

This week our final two volunteers are Tim McNeill and Scott Sissel.

Tim McNeill's topic is currently expressed as,
"By understanding the ethical concerns as well as the benificial uses of self-help legal software, law firms may be able to employ it as a means of developing new business."
He recommends the following links to articles as reading for our discussion the evening of October 24:

Practice Masters, Inc. http://www.winpmi.com

Healthcare Compliance Resources/Software http://www.complianceresources.com/software.html

Nolo: Law for All http://www.nolo.com/index.cfm

"Legal Standards for Advertising," Quicken/Nolo http://www.quicken.com/cms/viewers/article/small_business/40659

Green and Green, Publications: Articles of Interest http://www.iplegal.com/useful.html

Strategic Planning Systems, CheckMATE http://www.checkmateplan.com/default.asp

Scott Sissel's topic, as currently drafted, is,
"Due to the lack of real world experience by law school graduates, the high cost of basic legal services, as well as the free time that some law students have, the employment of law students by a few practicing attorneys who solely supervise them would greatly influence and decrease all three of these problems."
For our discussion of where his research and analysis are at this time he has given us the following reading assignments:

"Full Time Co-op Work-kStudy Procedures for Law Students" http://www.slaw.neu.edu/coop/coopworkstudy-stu-memo.pdf

"Indiana University School of Law Program in International Human Rights Law, "Overseas Work Opportunities for Law Students: Program in International Human Rights Law Summer Overseas Internships"
