International Executive Forum

Note: During the years 1985-1991 Johnson was involved as a faculty member of a globally-networked, online, mid-career educational program provided for corporate, military and other executives around the world. The sponsoring organization, under the direction of Richard Farson, was the Western Behavioral Sciences Institute, based in La Jolla, California. In the last years of the program it was affiliated with the University of California, San Diego. Twice a year the faculty and participants gathered for a conventional conference in La Jolla. The rest of the year the communication was done by computer, using computer conferencing techniques. The communication took the form of comments, keystroked on a computer, and uploaded to La Jolla (in the early years, to the "EIES" (Electronic Information Exchange System) computers in Newark, New Jersey). What follows are references to collections of those comments, sometimes only existing on computer disks, and in other instances printed out in hard copy. Johnson's participation would be the most substantial, of course, in those conferences for which he was the faculty moderator. But faculty were encouraged to participate in each other's courses. And so additional writing appears in conferences moderated by some other faculty member, but in which he participated.
