Re: Y2K (Computers and Year 2000 Problem), An Update

You may recall that I raised the "Y2K" problem in an agenda item October 27.  At that time, we decided, as recommended, to refer it to the Superintendent for a future report back.

Since then, at the IASB Convention in Des Moines this past week (November 19) I picked up a four-page brochure from the Association entitled, "Y2K:  Is Your School District Ready for the Millenium?" (undated).  A copy is attached.

You will see that it tracks fairly closely the kinds of concerns I raised last month:

The brochure goes beyond my agenda item in specifying "What can the board do?" and expanding the general internal/external concerns into a "Year 2000 Assessment Checklist."

If any of you did not pick up a copy of the brochure at the convention, a machine copy of its four pages is attached.
