First the Iowa Board of Regents ran off David Skorton, one of the best presidents the University of Iowa ever had, by slapping him in the face with a pay raise 40 percent less than the raises they gave the presidents of Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.

Then the regents stabbed the University of Iowa presidential selection committee in the back by refusing to hire any of the recommended applicants.

If Governor Vilsack isn't able to get the regents to do the right thing and hire a recommended applicant soon, he has no business running for president. His challenges on the national stage will make this problem with the regents look like child's play.
