John F. “Jack” Krantz contributed a successful business to Iowa that provided fun-filled days to generations of families. The founder of Adventureland Park and Resort in Altoona, which attracts more than half a million people a year, died Saturday at age 76. However, Iowans will continue to make memories at his park.

Adventureland is where Iowa kids ride their first roller coaster, eat their first funnel cake or watch their first magic show. And the park provides jobs for about 200 full-time workers, plus another 1,000 workers during the summer season — many of them retirees and teenagers.

Krantz was a family man who provided family-friendly entertainment for Iowans. That's a contribution that will continue to touch lives.
