There doesn’t seem to be much enthusiasm for the rain forest project in this state, which many view as laughable and ridiculous.

A Feb. 25 letter writer suggested diverting the money from the rain forest project and establishing an alternative energy research and education center at the Coralville site. It could be, as the letter said, a ‘‘first in the nation’’ place to visit. This would be a great step in helping to make America energy independent, and a real boon to Iowa’s economy by promoting the ethanol and biodiesel industries. I hope that lawmakers will consider the suggestion.
