The first meeting of University of Iowa's second presidential search committee will be open to the public today.

The 13-member committee, which was finalized Tuesday, will meet at 4 p.m. in Room N310 of the Denatal Science Building. On the agenda will be discussions of confidentiality, procedures, member roles and charges before going into an executive session.

UI has been looking for a permanent president since David Skorton announced he was leaving for Cornell University more than a year ago. Retired Tippie College of Business Dean Gary Fethke has served as interim president.

As initial search lasted seven months and cost more than $216,000. After being mired in secrecy and finger pointing, that search stalled Nov. 17 when six regents voted down four finalists and disbanded the 19-member search committee.
