University of Iowa Vice President for Research Meredith Hay is one of five finalists for the University of New Mexico presidency, according University of New Mexico officials.

The New Mexico state Board of Regents Wednesday selected Hay along with Daniel H. López, president of New Mexico Tech, Herman D. Lujan, provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University at Los Angeles, Robert T. McGrath, senior vice president for research at The Ohio State University and David J. Schmidly, president and system CEO at Oklahoma State University.

Hay directed comment to University of New Mexico officials.

There will be 2-3 days of on-campus interviews with faculty, staff, students and members of the greater community for each candidate beginning in early February. The seven-member Board of Regents can name a president no earlier than Feb. 14 or 21 days after they named the finalists.
